Integrated Street Furniture Program![]() ![]() The City of Ottawa is developing an Integrated Street Furniture Program (ISFP) to improve community streetscape and design, reduce advertising clutter, and provide an increase in service while simultaneously generating additional revenue. On behalf of the City of Ottawa, I would like to extend an invitation for you to participate in the development of a new program that requires your expertise, insight and vision. On September 10, 2008, Ottawa City Council passed a report directing staff to develop an Integrated Street Furniture Program for the City of Ottawa. In creating this program, the City will develop a vision for our streetscape that will reflect the diverse nature of our neighbourhoods, as well as, their traditions and history. This new Integrated Street Furniture Program will also ensure that the residents of Ottawa will receive enhanced service at less cost while creating beautiful and uncluttered streetscapes. As Mayor of Ottawa, I would like to invite you to participate so that this process can respond to your interests and vision. As part of the development of the Integrated Street Furniture Program relevant stakeholders will be extensively consulted. Your input and participation are an essential component of developing a successful program. These public consultations will begin on October 27and 28, 2008 and I hope that you will be able to join us. As you may know, Street Furniture is a collective term used to describe functional elements installed on roadways for various purposes. As an example, the range of elements considered street furniture can include waste and recycling bins, benches, bus shelters, bicycle racks, newspaper boxes, information kiosks, public washrooms and advertising pillars. This is an exciting time to get involved and have a real impact on how Ottawa will look for generations to come.
