Facility Features
Whether you wish to keep in shape, learn a new skill or develop a talent, the Heron Seniors’ Centre has a variety of recreational programs designed to suit an active adult lifestyle. A professional team of enthusiastic instructors makes this leisure centre a popular destination for retired or pre-retired adults.
A number of programs and activities are offered, including:
- Interest courses: Painting, drawing, conversational French and Spanish, music appreciation, play reading, bridge, oriental ink brush, wood burning, computer courses
- Physical activities: Indoor walking club, Tai Chi, fitness, weight training, chair exercises, yoga, chair yoga, Pilates, cardio and strength, fitness testing, social line dance
- Workshops: Cooking demos, 55 Alive Driver Refresher, travelogues, financial planning, portraits, printmaking, author readings
- Drop-ins (no fee): Rummoli, movies, writer’s circle, progressive bridge, book club
- Special events: Heron Seniors Art Show and Sale, City of Ottawa 55+ Short Story Contest

Facility Features
Located within the Heron Community Centre, our accessible facilities include a fully equipped weight room and cardio room, gymnasium, dance studio, computer lab, theatre, artists’ studio, lounge, library, kitchen and classrooms. Residents age 65 and over receive a 10% discount on all adult programs.
