• The City of Ottawa’s Technology Roadmap Report
The session, organized in partnership with OCRI (Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation) was targeted to technology vendors who presently do business with the City of Ottawa, as well as those interested in future opportunities. Over 400 participants attended the afternoon event.
The Five Year Technology Roadmap outlines the City’s plan in developing and expanding its eGovernment services, which will improve how the City engages residents and delivers information.
The Technology Roadmap identifies foundation technology, as well as infrastructure lifecycle and renewal initiatives. It positions the City of Ottawa for transition to eGovernment by identifying investments that:
- modernize its technical foundations to support speed of implementation for new systems and application;
- enable more strategic use of information technology throughout the City’s workforce;
- and support the people and businesses of Ottawa.
Customer relationship management and business intelligence play a prominent role in the recommendations outlined in the City’s Five Year Technology Roadmap. Not only will investing in customer relationship management tools make it easier for residents to access municipal information and services, these tools will also standardize processes that will result in consistent, high quality customer service across the City. Implementing business intelligence tools will allow tracking, consolidating and analysis of citywide data that will enhance and quantify sound business decision-making practices.
